PBS Highlights Our Citizen Solutions Work on Gun Rights and Safety
The PBS NewsHour series America at a Crossroads examines “the many divisions fracturing the United States.” One year after the Covenant School shooting in Nashville left six people dead, host Judy Woodruff covered our Tennessee Citizen Solutions initiative. She traveled across the state, talking to four Tennesseans who participated in our “solution session” on gun rights and safety.
Watch the 10-minute segment:
We’re immensely proud of the “Tennessee 11” — and of the effort they’ve continued to put in since the solution session last summer. For example, Alyssa Pearman and Jay Zimmerman recently wrote an op-ed about their experiences, which The Tennessean featured for its one-year-anniversary coverage of the Covenant shooting.
As Tim said in the PBS segment, “We’re being fed a narrative that everybody hates everybody else. We know that’s not the case.”
The Citizen Solutions process reveals what’s possible when we prioritize problem-solving over partisanship and solutions over stalemates. Do you have an idea for where we should host a solution session in the future? Send us your thoughts.
