Lt. Richard Taylor is a police officer at the East Carolina University Police Department in Greenville, N.C.

Jermaine and Richard formed an unexpected alliance and now work together on a regular basis through Jermaine’s nonprofit NC CIVIL, which seeks to build resilience and support vulnerable communities.

“I learned so much about the divide between law enforcement and our communities. And when I looked at the relationship, what I found was that there — there was no relationship… So, the question was: how do I get my community back involved in this relationship?” —Jermaine McNair

UN/DIVIDED is a documentary series featuring stories of real people bridging divides.
